Formula & Context
A Calculation Is
Not a Forecast.
How It Works
Each month the model adds finance charges to the outstanding balance, applies GST to those finance charges, adds any recurring fee entered, then subtracts the fixed payment. It repeats until the balance reaches zero.
Example
For a ₹1,00,000 outstanding balance, a small change in the monthly payment can materially change both the payoff time and the finance charges because unpaid balances continue to attract interest.
When It Is Useful
Use the finance-charge rate shown by your own issuer. The projection assumes no new spending or cash advances, no late-payment charge, one payment each month and an unchanged rate. Issuers can calculate interest daily and apply card-specific rules, so your actual statement can differ slightly.

Frequently Asked
Questions.
These answers explain the mathematics and limitations. They do not assess whether a particular investment or strategy is suitable for you.
Should I enter the annual interest rate or monthly rate?
Enter the monthly finance-charge rate shown in your credit-card terms or statement. Many Indian card issuers quote finance charges as a percentage per month.
Why does the calculator include GST?
GST can apply to card finance charges and fees in India. The field is editable so the calculation can be updated if your statement or the applicable tax rate differs.
Does this model the minimum amount due?
No. Minimum-due formulas differ by issuer and can include principal, interest, taxes, EMIs, fees and over-limit amounts. This calculator instead models the fixed monthly amount you actually plan to pay.
